Senior citizens are frequently the victims of abuse. That abuse can be physical, emotional, or even financial. All too often, it is committed by someone who has been trusted to keep the victim safe.

We want to see elder abuse stop.

As California Nursing Home Lawyers, we represent patients and their family members in obtaining justice against facilities that intentionally or negligently abuse our elders. We represent victims of Nursing Home Abuse and elder abuse throughout California including San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, San Jose, Berkeley, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Marysville, Sonora, Modesto, Stockton, Sacramento and Los Angeles.

Warren Major LLP specializes in nursing home abuse litigation. We are highly competent in handling these claims.

Physical Abuse

Physical abuse does not always result in cuts and bruises. Nursing home residents may be pushed, shoved, unreasonably physically restrained, slapped and subjected to other forms of abuse. Once you have done what is necessary to protect your loved one from any further mistreatment, we can help you take legal action against your loved one’s abusers.

Skilled nursing facilities are custodial care providers that generally care for an elder 24 hours per day. According to federal and state law, these facilities must meet the physical and mental health needs of each patient. If a nursing home resident has the need, the facility must assist with feeding, hydration, bathing, repositioning, ambulating, mobility both in and out of bed, fall prevention, and pressure sore prevention. Moreover, residents must be frequently assessed so that changes in condition are promptly noted and reported to the physician and to family. Because the nursing home business is a multi-billion-dollar industry, money is often more important to some owners than patients’ lives. As they routinely cut patient care and understaff the facilities, they become richer. Signs of neglect include pressure sores or bed sores, dehydration, malnutrition, falls, accidents, medication errors, open wounds, frequent urinary tract infections (UTIs), poor personal hygiene including smelling of urine and feces, wearing dirty clothes, body odor, unwashed hair, and overgrown nails due to lack of basic personal care, bathing and toileting.

Sexual Abuse

Any sexual contact with an elder or dependent adult who does not or cannot consent to it,  because of mental illness, dementia or other reasons, is sexual abuse. If someone you care for is showing signs of sexual abuse, you may need legal help. The first step is to set up a case review and learn about the options you have.

Financial Abuse

Con artists can come in all shapes and sizes. Many will appear legitimate. They may drag an elderly victim into bad investments, property deals or other financial schemes.
